Two mountains.
One extraordinary day.
Nomad Weddings NZ is a Queenstown-based elopement photography and planning company specialising in helicopter weddings across the South Island of New Zealand. This package is our most popular: two helicopter landings departing Wānaka Airport, combining Coromandel Peak with a second landing on Tyndall Glacier. Your ceremony happens at the summit. The glacier follows. You return to your accommodation having seen more of the Southern Alps than most people see in a lifetime.
Coromandel Peak rises 1,200m above Lake Wānaka. It sits on privately owned land that requires pre-booked permits, so there are no unexpected visitors. It faces north, which means afternoon light hits the landscape at a low, golden angle, particularly striking between April and September. Tyndall Glacier adds something no other location can: permanent ice and snowfields at altitude, year-round, regardless of season.
All helicopter operations are subject to weather and aviation safety conditions. Flights depart ex Wānaka Airport. If your date is affected, we work with you to reschedule.

What your
day looks like.
Times are indicative and vary by season. Flights depart Wānaka Airport. The schedule is built around your hair and makeup booking and helicopter availability. No two days are identical.
Hair, makeup and flowers
Your makeup artist arrives at your accommodation. While you get ready, the photographers arrive to capture the preparations and first look. Flowers are delivered to your door. Optional, but most couples book it.
Helicopter depot check-in
We leave about 30 minutes after hair and makeup wraps. The celebrant meets us at the Wānaka Airport hangar. Take your time. There are no facilities on the mountain. We have the helicopter to ourselves.
Coromandel Peak ceremony
The ceremony runs about 10 to 15 minutes, 1,200 metres above Lake Wānaka. You have the peak to yourselves. Private permit access means no other visitors. Another 45 minutes follows for photography on the summit.
Tyndall Glacier landing
The helicopter takes you from the peak to Tyndall Glacier, permanent ice and snowfields above the Southern Alps with Mt Aspiring directly in view. Approximately 45 minutes here for portraits on the ice.
Return to Wānaka
The helicopter returns to the hangar. We drive you back to your accommodation. The day is done. Two summits, one ceremony, and a set of photographs that will last the rest of your lives.
