One mountain.
Everything handled.
Nomad Weddings NZ is a Queenstown-based elopement photography and planning company specialising in helicopter weddings across the South Island of New Zealand. This package takes you from Queenstown Airport to Cecil Peak or The Remarkables for your ceremony, followed by a lakeside photoshoot on the way back. By the time we drop you off at your accommodation, you will have covered more ground than most couples do in a full wedding day.
Both locations sit above Lake Wakatipu with panoramic views of Queenstown and the surrounding ranges. Cecil Peak gives you a broad open summit. The Remarkables give you a more jagged, dramatic ridgeline. Either way, the elevation is real and the quiet is complete.
All helicopter operations are subject to weather and safety conditions. If your date is affected, we work with you to shift to a suitable alternative.
- Elopement planning and coordination
- Helicopter to Cecil Peak or The Remarkables, ex Queenstown Airport
- One ground location for additional photos
- Registered marriage celebrant
- 3.5 hours of wedding photography
- Ground transport for two
- GST inclusive
What your
day looks like.
Times are indicative. We build your actual schedule around your hair and makeup booking, helicopter availability, and preferred ceremony time. No two days are identical.
Hair, makeup and flowers
Your makeup artist arrives at your accommodation. While you get ready, the photographers arrive to capture the preparations and first look. Flowers are delivered to your door. Optional, but most couples book it.
Helicopter depot check-in
We leave about 30 minutes after hair and makeup wraps. The celebrant meets us at the hangar. Take your time. There are no cafes or bathrooms on the mountain, so use them here. We have the helicopter to ourselves.
Mountain-top ceremony
The ceremony runs about 10 to 15 minutes. Then we have another 45 minutes at the summit for photography. The light, the scale, and the silence are unlike anything at ground level.
Lakeside photoshoot
Your day continues. We head to Lake Wakatipu, the longest lake in New Zealand, for another hour of portraits. Different light, different setting, different mood. Then we drop you back at your accommodation.
